Citizens ask court to maintain embargo on works at Quinta dos Ingleses in Cascais

The trial of a precautionary measure to halt the urbanization of Quinta dos Ingleses, in the municipality of Cascais, began today at the Sintra Court. The applicants of this legal action defend the maintenance of the embargo on works taking place in that area.

Quinta dos Ingleses is located in the municipality of Cascais, on the Portuguese coast. The case concerns a urbanization project in that area that has generated opposition from citizens.

The Sintra court is now analyzing the request to maintain the embargo, after a precautionary measure was granted that temporarily suspended the construction work.

The legal process arises following popular contestation of the urban transformation of Quinta dos Ingleses, with the applicants fighting for the protection of that area against the planned real estate development.

Association asks Supreme Court to guarantee extra benefit for retired judges and pensioners

The National Association of State Magistrates (Anamages) filed a motion with the Supreme Federal Court asking that the payment of the "Career Seniority Value Portion" (PVTAC) be guaranteed to retired judges and pensioners. The entity argues that the STF recognized the right to this indemnification payment during a trial in March, but that an error in the drafting of the ruling did not expressly include this group. The PVTAC is a 5% additional on salary for every five years of legal activity, which can reach up to 35% of the salary, and was approved by the Plenary as an indemnification payment for magistrates and members of the Public Ministry.
