The European Commission presented two legislative proposals to simplify and flexibilize public procurement rules in the European Union, estimating an annual administrative saving of 650 million euros. The initiatives aim to modernize the public procurement system in Member States. The two proposals were designated Legislative Act on the Award of Public Contracts and Legislative Act on European Innovation. The main objective is not only to reduce bureaucracy, but also to boost innovation within the European Union.
