The Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) is promoting, throughout September, three press trips aimed at national and international journalists. The programs focus on nature tourism, gastronomy, heritage and local communities, seeking to promote a tourist offer beyond the segments traditionally associated with the Algarve. André Gomes, president of Algarve Tourism, states that these initiatives represent the region's commitment to positioning itself as a destination of nature, authenticity and genuine experiences.
The first trip takes place between September 10 and 12, in partnership with the Regional Tourism Entity of Alentejo and Ribatejo, under the project "Communication and Branding Management Program for Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina – + Interior Turismo Support Line". Under the designation "Ao Natural é Melhor", the program covers the municipalities of Monchique and Aljezur, including a jeep tour through the Serra de Monchique with a stop at Foia, a visit to a traditional distillery, a hike along the footpaths of Barranco do Demo in Alferce, and an electric bike tour along the Costa Vicentina.
The second initiative takes place from September 17 to 20, integrated into the project "Internacionalizar + Algarve 3.0 – Algarve 2030". The journalists visit Tavira and Loulé, with the program including a visit to the traditional market in Loulé, an artisanal bakery and the last metalworks workshop in southern Portugal. In Tavira, there is a planned jeep and boat tour through the salt pans, the anchor cemetery and Barril beach, followed by an electric bike route from Olhão to Fuzeta through the Ria Formosa Natural Park.
The third press trip takes place from September 24 to 27, also under the project "Internacionalizar + Algarve 3.0 – Algarve 2030". The program includes a boat trip through the Ria Formosa to Deserta Island, a visit to Culatra Island, a tour of Faro in an electric replica of a 1920 Ford T and a gastronomic experience at Tertúlia Algarvia. It also includes a morning of birdwatching at the Sapal de Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António Nature Reserve, where more than 160 species can be found, and a jeep excursion through the Ria Formosa passing through Santa Luzia, Fuseta, Olhão and the Salinas do Grelha, with mud and salt bathing experiences.
