Chega will request the urgent parliamentary hearing of the national director of the Judicial Police, Carlos Cabreiro, to clarify information transmitted to the minister of Justice about the destruction of chemicals seized in operation Pacoba, when Luís Neves led the institution.
The request follows after the minister of Justice, Rita Alarcão Júdice, declared in parliament that "no one lied" about the value of the destruction of chemicals, contradicting previous information from the minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves. The minister requested additional clarification directly from the national director of the PJ.
André Ventura accused the minister of Justice of having lied to parliament in the responses sent on the subject, stating that "either the PJ is hiding information from the government and Parliament, or the minister is lying to try to cover up for her colleague from Internal Administration". The Chega leader said he has "all the conditions to suspect" that it was the minister who lied to protect Luís Neves.
Ventura defended that transparency is needed and appealed to the national director of the PJ to provide clarification, considering that "it is time for political leaders to stop always throwing onto the police the responsibilities that they themselves have". According to the president of Chega, the controversy "does not disappear" because it is a matter of integrity at stake.
