Brazilian opposition is seeking clarifications about an apocryphal report that, according to Minister André Mendonça, would have monitored his activities and those of lawyer Jorge Messias. For this, it intends to summon Justice Minister Wellington César Lima e Silva and invite Andrei Rodrigues, who returned to the position of executive director of the Federal Police following a decision by Minister Flávio Dino.
The requests were presented both in the Chamber and Senate. Deputy Rodrigo Valadares (PL-SE) proposed the holding of a general committee in the Chamber plenary to hear those involved. In addition to Andrei Rodrigues, the opposition also intends to call the Federal Police Intelligence Director, Leandro Almada, who was also targeted by a precautionary removal determined by André Mendonça.
According to the document that underlies the requests, the objective is to discuss the document's origin, identify who participated in its elaboration, verify what information was collected, clarify for what purpose, and investigate whether there was use of agents, systems, databases or any other structure of the Federal Police for the production of the report.
In the Senate, Senator Esperidião Amin (PP-SC) wants both Minister Wellington César and Andrei Rodrigues to appear before the Joint Committee for the Control of Intelligence Activities to provide the appropriate clarifications about the case.
