Enric Mas, leader of the Vuelta a España and holder of the red jersey, faces his biggest challenge in the race this Thursday. It is the competition's major time trial, starting in El Puerto de Santa María and finishing in Jerez de la Frontera, in the Cadiz stage of the event.
The 17th stage, held on Wednesday, departed from Dos Hermanas and ended in Seville after a 185-kilometer route through the province. The stage brought no changes to the general classification.
At the sprint finish in the Sevillian capital, Matthew Brennan claimed victory. The British cyclist thus adds his fifth stage win in this Vuelta.
With this result and Wout van Aert's three wins, the Visma team achieved its seventh stage victory in the Spanish competition.
