The social institutions of the Azores met with the president of the Regional Government to discuss the situation of the sector. During the meeting, they expressed concern regarding the financing that is attributed by the Republic.
The representatives of the social sector acknowledge that there has been some extraordinary support, but argue that it is necessary to move towards a normalization of financing. This situation keeps the institutions in uncertainty regarding medium-term financial sustainability.
Despite the concerns, the officials are optimistic and believe that the year 2027 could represent a period of consolidation for the Azorean social sector. This expectation arises in a context where efforts are being made to guarantee the stability and continuity of services provided to the populations of the islands.
