The Largo do Palácio Nacional de Queluz, in Sintra, hosts on September 19, at 9:00 PM, the 28th edition of the National Parade of Portuguese Folk Dress. The event has free entry and features the participation of more than a thousand people.
The parade is organized by the Federação do Folclore Português, with the support of the Sintra Municipal Council. The objective of the initiative is to celebrate the diversity and richness of traditional costumes from different regions of the country.
The event is considered a true "living museum" of Portuguese popular culture. The organization states that the goal is to preserve intangible cultural heritage and pass on to new generations the historical value of costumes, ways of life, and traditions.
The holding of the parade in Sintra also aims to reinforce the cultural and tourist dimension of the municipality, which thus hosts a nationwide initiative dedicated to the enhancement of Portuguese folk traditions.
