Notícias de Setúbal9 September 2026 at 16:45

The Prime Minister inaugurated the Barbosa du Bocage School Centre in Setúbal, marking the beginning of the school year. The event, held during the morning starting at 11:00, was attended by various Government members, the Vice Mayor of Setúbal, Maria do Carmo Tiago, and the director of the Barbosa du Bocage School Cluster, António Caetano.

The new school centre, which includes a primary school and kindergarten, serves this school year a total of 253 students, distributed across eight primary school classes, four kindergarten classes, and nine students from the Learning Support Centre. The school improves the preschool and primary school educational offering in Setúbal, eliminating the existing double-shift system at the Santa Maria Basic School.

The total investment amounted to 5,359,890 euros, of which 4,224,905.32 euros were supported by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and funded by the European Union through the NextGeneration fund. The municipality of Setúbal covered 1,134,984.68 euros.

With a construction area of approximately 2,300 square meters across two floors, the building includes eight classrooms for primary school, four activity rooms for kindergarten, a multisensory Snoezelen room, a Learning Support Centre, a cafeteria, a kitchen with on-site food preparation, and sports facilities such as a pavilion, sports field, and athletics track.
