Cascais Miragem has already communicated layoffs and union urges workers to challenge them

The Cascais Miragem Hotel officially announced the collective dismissal of 177 workers, including 142 permanent employees and 35 fixed-term contracts, due to the closure of the unit for structural works starting November 1st, with a minimum duration of two years. The Hotel Industry Workers' Union urged those affected to challenge the dismissals in court, arguing that the legal requirements for using this mechanism are not met and that the decision represents a "dismissal without just cause disguised as a collective dismissal". The hotel's management defended that collective dismissal was the only legally viable option. The union recalled that an investment of approximately 80 million euros is planned for the renovation of the hotel, acquired in 2025 by a Spanish group for 125 million euros, considering it unacceptable that the project be realized at the workers' expense.
