Évora Summit opens four-month international promotion of Alentejo

The international tourism promotion of Alentejo kicks off this Wednesday, September 9, in Évora, with the Summit of Brazilian tour operator Interep, running until September 13. This action opens an agenda of more than twenty initiatives planned through December, organized by the Alentejo Regional Tourism Promotion Agency (ARPTA), in an effort that extends until the end of 2026. The strategy combines conventions and conferences held in the Alentejo territory itself with presence at international trade shows and business activities abroad, plus familiarization trips for industry professionals and journalists.

Interep works exclusively with travel agents and offers products including accommodation, car rentals, transfers, tours and travel programs, with specialized luxury hotel offerings as well. Holding the Summit in Évora allows presenting the destination directly to professionals who advise clients and sell travel in the Brazilian market. José Manuel Santos, president of ARPTA, says the goal is that the promotion effort brings business to Alentejo companies, resulting in more travel proposals for Alentejo, demand outside the summer season and opportunities distributed across different areas of the region.

The coming months include new conventions in Alentejo, such as Amadeus Art & Cooking, the Travel Counsellors Gold Members Conference (October 16-19), the BRAZTOA Convention (October 19-23) and the Staysure Portugal Legends (October 26 to November 1). In November, the Travel Trade Marketplace Canada (9-11) and the Travelosophers Annual Overseas Conference 2026 (November 18-23) take place. Parallel to this, during September, October and November, familiarization and press trips to Alentejo will be conducted.

The international component intensifies during September, with participation in Convening EMEA 2026 (September 13-15), Top Resa in Paris (September 15-17), ETOA Showcase Outbound Japan (September 17), Korea Roadshow (September 21-23), Tourism Expo Japan (September 24-27) and an ETOA workshop in Tokyo (September 28). In November, highlights include the World Travel Market in London (November 3-5) and the Nordic Countries Workshop (November 30 to December 3). José Manuel Santos notes that the strategy involves continuing to work on European markets, Brazil and Canada, but also seeking new opportunities in Japan and South Korea.
