Lousã will host, on the weekend of September 12 and 13, another edition of Lousã Granfondo, a cycling event that should gather around 1,000 participants. The main event takes place on Sunday, September 13, starting at 9:00 AM from the Dr. Mário Soares Municipal Exhibition Park. Three routes are planned: the Granfondo with 123 kilometres and 2,690 metres of positive elevation gain, the Mediofondo with 100 kilometres and 1,950 metres of positive elevation gain, and the Minifondo with 73.3 kilometres and 782 metres of positive elevation gain.
The routes cross some of the most striking roads and landscapes of the region, with the Serra da Lousã as a differentiating element. The organisation states that the event has been asserting itself through the quality of its structure, the demanding nature of the routes, and the ability to associate cycling with the promotion and enhancement of the territory.
On Saturday, September 12, starting at 4:30 PM, the Granfondinho takes place, an initiative aimed at children aged 3 to 12, with free participation subject to mandatory registration. The event aims to encourage a taste for cycling and physical activity, promoting values such as teamwork, collaboration, and resilience.
The holding of Lousã Granfondo 2026, supported by the Municipality of Lousã, constitutes a moment of local dynamisation, contributing to the promotion of the municipality among participants, companions and visitors, and reinforcing the connection between sport, nature, tourism and the local economy.
