President Lula asked for the suspension of the removal of the Federal Police directors. The request was made regarding the decision that removed from their positions the corporation's director-general and the Intelligence director.
The removal was determined by Judge André Mendonça, who serves on the Supreme Federal Court. According to the magistrate, the two directors were targets of "systematic monitoring" and "illicit" activity, which motivated the decision to remove them from their duties.
The suspension requested by Lula seeks to reverse the judicial measure that removed the directors from their respective positions at the Federal Police. The episode occurs amid tensions between the Executive and Judicial branches over the control and autonomy of the police corporation.
