Daimler Truck to Close Lisbon Tech Hub and Lay Off 100 People

Eco9 September 2026 at 15:07

Daimler Truck will close the company's technology centre in Lisbon, called tb.lx, from 31 March 2027. Around 100 workers will be affected by the decision, receiving support during the transition period, including severance pay.

The closure comes as part of a reorientation of Daimler Truck's information technology strategy. The company emphasizes that the decision does not reflect the performance of the team in Lisbon or the business context in Portugal. Daimler Truck's Chief Information Officer, Raghavendra Vaidya, expressed gratitude for the dedication and competence of the employees over the past eight years.

The tb.lx was founded in 2018 and supported Daimler Truck's digital activities, developing connectivity services and software products for the European, North American and Asian markets. In 2024, the company moved to a new office in the Chiado area, at which point it had 130 employees. At that time, then-CEO Christian Lessing stated that the focus on Portugal had proven to be a good partnership and that the country was the right place to be.
