Iran and USA Return Forcefully to Attacks and Oil Price Spikes Again

TVI Notícias9 September 2026 at 14:52

Tension between the United States and Iran escalated again in the last few hours, with a series of mutual attacks between the two countries. This new wave of confrontations caused the price of a barrel of oil to soar to values above 100 dollars.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard claimed to have carried out missile attacks against a base in Jordan used by American forces. According to the same Iranian source, approximately ten ships were also attacked.

On the other side, American military forces claimed to have destroyed five Iranian oil tankers in the context of these confrontations.

This episode represents another chapter in the conflict between Washington and Tehran, with immediate repercussions on global energy markets, where oil reached highs not seen in a long time.

"The fairground traders are part of the essence of the Feiras Novas"

The article addresses the tradition of fairground traders at the Feiras Novas in Ponte de Lima, Portugal, gathering testimonies from vendors who have participated in this pilgrimage for decades. Conceição Rego, with about 50 years of presence, recalls how the fair was different in the old days, selling on the sand sitting on the ground. Her husband Francisco Rego, 70 years old, sells concertinas and drums for more than three decades, emphasizing that "a pilgrimage without toys is not the same thing." Marlene Fernandes, from Barcelos, notes that sales run better during the festivities than at normal fairs, although the work is intense, sleeping in the van during the four days. Manuel Peixoto, also from Barcelos, states that "the fairground traders are part of the essence of the Feiras Novas," recognizing that the way of buying has changed, but the tradition remains. Despite changes in location and the increase in the number of visitors, the vendors ensure that the identity of the fair remains.
