Nuno Morna defends ferry link between Madeira, Azores and Canaries based on cargo

Nuno Morna, former deputy to the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, defended the creation of a maritime link that integrates Madeira, Azores and Canaries. The proposal aims at an articulation between the three outermost regions to establish a ferry route connecting these territories.

According to Nuno Morna, creating scale is one of the necessary conditions to make a ferry operation sustainable between these islands. The proposed model is based mainly on cargo transport as the central economic component of the operation.

The initiative arises in the context of the need to improve maritime links between European outermost regions, considering the logistical and economic challenges these islands face due to their peripheral geographic location.
