The campaign committee of Federal Deputy Tabata Amaral (PSB-SP), located in Vila Mariana, in the South Zone of São Paulo, was targeted by a fire attempt on Sunday night (6). An employee at the location noticed someone in the space around 10 PM and, upon approaching, found that the woman had tried to set fire to a bag of papers to then throw the artifact into a trash can.
The employee put out the flames with her feet and removed the suspect from the location. Initially, it was believed to be a man. The accused allegedly offered money to manage to set the trash can on fire, which was denied. After the episode, the security guard at the committee found a plastic bottle containing fuel inside the location.
The case was registered in a police report and is being investigated by the Civil Police of São Paulo. The fire attempt was published by the Metrópoles portal and confirmed by the newspaper O Globo.
In a statement, Tabata Amaral demanded a rigorous investigation by the authorities and a response from the government of São Paulo. The deputy stated that the episode is something very serious and that it needs to be properly investigated, expressing concern about the safety of her team and the electoral process.
