Government approved extension of support for agricultural diesel and fishermen

RTP Notícias9 September 2026 at 14:00

The Portuguese Government approved this Wednesday, in the Council of Ministers, the extension of support for agricultural diesel until the end of the year. This measure aims to continue supporting the agricultural sector, which depends heavily on this fuel for its productive activities. The extension of these supports comes as a way to mitigate the production costs faced by farmers.

In addition to agricultural diesel, the Executive also approved support for the fishing sector. This decision covers professionals in the fishing industry, who face significant economic challenges and depend on favorable conditions to maintain their activity.

With these measures, the Government demonstrates its commitment to two sectors considered fundamental to the economy and to the country's food supply. The extension of support for agricultural diesel and incentives to the fishing sector should contribute to the sustainability of these sectors throughout the remaining period of the year.
