Prime Minister Luís Montenegro will have to meet four conditions for the PS to enable the State Budget for 2027. The announcement was made by the PS general secretary, José Luís Carneiro, this Tuesday in Palmela, during a statement to journalists.
The four conditions are: guaranteeing that there will be no constitutional changes without agreement between PS and PSD, that pensions will not be changed, that post-Recovery and Resilience Programme investments will be ensured, and that storm support will be maintained.
As for the red lines, any attempt at privatization in health or Social Security will result in a certain rejection of the Budget. The PS thus makes clear that these measures are outside any negotiation.
The PS's goal in presenting these conditions is to guarantee the country's political stability, showing itself available to negotiate the Budget but establishing clear limits that the Government will have to respect to obtain enablement by the socialists.
