TSE accepts action against Bolsonaro for alleged abuse of economic power in Barretos

The Superior Electoral Court decided to accept an action presented by President Lula's coalition against presidential candidate Bolsonaro and his running mate, Alfredo Gaspar, both from PL. The action requests the investigation of an alleged abuse of economic power related to Bolsonaro's participation in the Barretos Festival, in São Paulo.

According to Lula's coalition, between August 20 and 30, Bolsonaro allegedly used the main stage of the Barretos Cowboy Rodeo Festival to campaign for the Presidency. The show stage was funded by private companies and the event gathered an estimated audience of 60,000 people.

The general corrector of Electoral Justice, Minister Antonio Carlos Ferreira, considered that the action presents determined facts, with indication of the period and location of the events, in addition to records that support the allegations. With the decision, the case will proceed to the merits analysis.
