From a luxury life to court: the fall of the young man who stole millions of dollars in bitcoin

SIC Notícias9 September 2026 at 12:28

The young man, who was living a luxury lifestyle, became a defendant in court after being accused of stealing millions of dollars in bitcoin. The investigation revealed that he led an organized criminal group whose main objective was to steal cryptocurrencies.

The group used deception schemes to obtain confidential data from victims, taking advantage of their trust and lack of knowledge about digital security. Through psychological manipulation techniques and fraud, they managed to gain access to the digital wallets of targeted individuals.

In addition to online fraud, the group also carried out home invasions with the specific objective of emptying victims' digital wallets. In these robberies, they sought not only traditional material goods but mainly the devices and codes necessary to access cryptocurrencies.

The young man now risks a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for the crimes he is accused of, which include computer fraud, qualified theft, and criminal organization. The case illustrates the growing risks associated with cryptocurrencies and the sophistication of the methods used by criminal groups to steal them.
