Vila Velha de Ródão hosts again from September 25 to 27 the 2026 F2 World Powerboat Championship final. This is the seventh consecutive time and also the fifth and final stage of the competition, which has already visited Klaipėda, Brindisi, San Nazzaro and Peso da Régua. The event takes place at the River Pier of Vila Velha de Ródão, on a 1577-meter circuit limited by the gorge of the Portas de Ródão, organized by the Portuguese Powerboat Federation, under the auspices of the International Powerboat Union, in partnership with the City Council.
Twenty pilots from 12 nationalities are expected to participate, including Portuguese rider Duarte Benavente, world champion of the sport in 2020. The competition program includes on September 25 the reception of teams and technical and administrative inspections, followed on Saturday September 26 by free practice in the morning and qualifying practice in the afternoon. On Sunday September 27, warm-up sessions and the repechage race take place in the morning, with the Grande Prémio de Vila Velha de Ródão to be held in the afternoon, starting at 3:30 PM.
The mayor of Vila Velha de Ródão, António Carmona, stated that the municipality is very pleased to host this event again, considering it an important occasion from a tourism and economic perspective for the region. Carmona highlighted that many pilots and teams choose the municipality for training throughout the year, in addition to the regular participation of the local population and visitors who already have this event as a consolidated part of the municipality's calendar.
