The motion of censure presented by Chega against the Government of Luís Montenegro was rejected this Tuesday in the Portuguese Parliament. The vote resulted in 104 votes against, 60 in favor and 62 abstentions, which led to the rejection of the motion.
The Chega party was isolated in this vote, with only the party leader, André Ventura, voting in favor of the motion. No other opposition party supported Chega's initiative.
Although several parties directed criticism at Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, none of them decided to align with Chega on the motion of censure, preferring to abstain or vote against.
The result of this vote demonstrates that, although there is dissatisfaction with the Montenegro Government on the part of various political forces, there is no alternative majority that wants to bring down the Executive through a motion of censure.
