Jornal Novo Regional9 September 2026 at 11:25

Entries are now open for the 13th edition of the Crédito Agrícola Wine Competition, organized in partnership with the Association of Sommeliers of Portugal and recognized by the Institute of Vine and Wine. The competition is aimed at Producers and Cooperatives from all national wine regions who are Members or Customers of the Bank, and applications can be submitted until October 2.

Over its editions, the competition has established itself as a benchmark in the sector, distinguishing excellent wines through the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Tambuladeira Medals of the Association of Sommeliers of Portugal in the categories "White Wine," "Red Wine," and "Sparkling Wine." The Grand Gold Medal is also awarded to the best wine in each category, and the distinction Sustainable Production Wines is given to certified producers with recognized practices.

This edition takes place in a relevant context, following Crédito Agrícola's sponsorship of the ASI Best Sommelier of the World Portugal 2026, which will be held in Lisbon from October 11 to 17. Taking advantage of the presence of international sommeliers at this event, several of these professionals will join the jury of the 13th edition, alongside national jurors, consisting of renowned sommeliers, winemakers, wine enthusiasts, and specialized journalists.

The jury will meet in Lisbon on October 17 to conduct the Blind Tastings of the wines in competition. With approximately 800 wines awarded since the first edition, the competition's mission is to promote Portuguese wine production, open doors to new business opportunities, and contribute to strengthening the sector and local economies.
