Portuguese exports recorded growth of 2.5% by July, while imports increased 5.5% in the same period, according to data from the National Statistics Institute.
This difference between export and import growth resulted in a worsening of the Portuguese trade deficit by 2,481 million euros.
At the end of July, the trade deficit stood at 21,349 million euros, a value that reflects the faster increase in purchases from abroad compared to sales.
The data was released this Wednesday by the National Statistics Institute, the body responsible for compiling and publishing Portugal's official foreign trade statistics.
