The Lamego branch of the Liga dos Combatentes (NLLC) celebrated, on Sunday, the 6th, its 102nd anniversary with the holding of a ceremony honoring the fallen war dead. The event aimed to keep alive in collective memory the supreme sacrifice of those who gave their lives.
The high point of the ceremony was the laying of a wreath of flowers at the Monument to the Fallen of the Great War, located in Lamego. This action symbolically represents the recognition and gratitude of the Liga dos Combatentes towards the combatants who died defending the Fatherland.
The Liga dos Combatentes is an association that represents and defends the interests of former combatants, war veterans, and their families. Founded over a century ago, the organization continues to promote activities of commemoration and preservation of the historical memory of the conflicts in which Portugal was involved.
The Lamego branch, by celebrating its 102nd anniversary, reinforces the commitment to keeping alive the traditions and memory of those who served and sacrificed their lives in conflict, passing on these values to younger generations.
