Thibaut Courtois has decided to take a break from his national team career. At 34 years old, the Real Madrid goalkeeper confirmed that he does not intend to play any matches in the upcoming Nations League, not even a potential Final Four, as part of a plan to prolong his career in club football.
The announcement came after Real Madrid's 2-1 victory over Inter Milan in their Champions League opener. Courtois was one of the standout performers for the Spanish side and, in the mixed zone, explained his plans for the next international commitments.
Courtois stated that he will not play any Nations League matches unless the coach needs him because there are many injured players. However, the decision does not mean retirement from the Belgian national team.
