Norway bids farewell to King Harald V at funeral with heads of state and European royalty

Norway bids farewell on Wednesday to King Harald V, considered a modern and unifying figure, whose reign ended surrounded by scandals. The funeral is being held in Oslo and features the presence of European royalty, foreign authorities, and heads of state.

Harald died at 89 on August 28. Among the highlights at the ceremony are British Prince William, the kings of Spain Felipe VI and Letizia, as well as the presidents of Ukraine, Finland, Germany, and the Czech Republic. The prime ministers of France and Thailand will also be in the Norwegian capital to pay their respects to the monarch.

A funeral procession departed from the royal palace at 12 noon local time, equivalent to 7 a.m. in Brasília. The coffin was transported during the king's farewell ceremony.
