Extraordinary pension supplement and IRS relief coming
Prime Minister Luís Montenegro announced on Tuesday the granting of an extraordinary supplement to pensioners earning up to 1,611.13 euros, on a progressive basis. The announcement was made in the opening speech of the debate in Parliament, which took place due to the censure motion presented by Chega against the Government.
In addition to the pension supplement, Montenegro also revealed tax relief covering taxpayers up to the sixth bracket of IRS. Both measures will be implemented at the Council of Ministers next week.
The prime minister justified these initiatives in the context of the parliamentary debate on the censure motion, taking the opportunity to present the executive's priorities. The measures aim to support citizens with lower incomes, both pensioners and taxpayers covered by the intermediate taxation brackets.
