The President of the Municipal Chamber of Angra do Heroísmo, Fátima Amorim, received on September 8, at the Municipal Hall, Helen Cheney, Ambassador of Australia in Portugal, at a courtesy presentation audience.

The audience took place within the scope of the new Australian Ambassador's official visit to the Azores, constituting an opportunity for institutional contact between the Municipality of Angra do Heroísmo and the Australian diplomatic representation in Portugal.

During her visit to Terceira island, Helen Cheney also attended the Hortensia Music Festival, an initiative that features the participation of a musician from that continent, thus combining the institutional component with participation in a cultural event.

Helen Cheney is the Ambassador of Australia in Portugal, also being accredited to Cape Verde, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Guinea-Bissau. The visit to the Azores contributed to strengthening ties between Australia and the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
