The 2026 edition of the Porto Book Fair recorded a record number of 231,000 visitors, the second highest attendance in the literary festival's history, which took place between August 21 and September 6 in the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal. The event featured 144 exhibitors of booksellers, publishers and antiquarian booksellers and more than 400 hours of programming spread across over 200 activities. Among the highlights of this edition were the presence of international authors such as Mohammed El-Kurd, Angelica Liddell, Rim Battal and Marie Darrieussecq, the reinforcement of children's and youth proposals with 80 hours of activities and the debut of a cycle dedicated to dramaturgy. The Porto-born poet Inês Lourenço was the featured honoree, with the Tília de Homenagem (Linden Tree of Homage) providing the inspiration for conversations, roundtables, performances and exhibitions dedicated to poetry and the feminine. Despite the bad weather that forced partial closure on two days, recovery was swift, with Saturday, August 29, becoming the most attended day of the event.
