INEM technicians' strike can be cancelled if agreement is reached with the Ministry of Health

The Union of Pre-Hospital Emergency Technicians (STEPH) announced that the strikes scheduled for September 18 and 28 will continue if an agreement is not reached with the Ministry of Health by the end of this week. The union states, however, that if the Ministry of Health reaches an understanding on the presented demands, the technicians are willing to cancel the strikes.

The technicians show willingness to concede on some points of their demands, namely regarding deadlines, and accept that the reinforcement of means at INEM be implemented in a phased manner. This flexibility comes as a signal of good faith from STEPH to try to avoid the strike.

The president of STEPH sent a letter to the Minister of Health and the president of INEM, now waiting for a meeting to be scheduled with the authorities to resume negotiations and try to reach an agreement before the deadline.

If this strike takes place, it will be the second one called by INEM technicians. The first occurred in October and November 2024 and resulted in the opening of inquiries into deaths that allegedly occurred without the victims having received timely assistance.
