Globo announced on Tuesday (8) on its social media that "Avenida Brasil 2" will be its next prime time soap opera. It is a continuation of the phenomenon that stopped Brazil in 2012, when the original plot achieved enormous ratings success.
The premiere is scheduled for January 2027, when the soap opera will replace "Quem ama cuida" in the nine o'clock slot. However, the network has not yet officially revealed details about the cast, story or the exact date of the first chapter.
While new information is not disclosed, news about the possible directions of the sequel has been circulating for months. Among the names pointed out to return are Adriana Esteves and Murilo Benício, who would reprise their roles as Carminha and Tufão, iconic characters from the first phase.
The continuation will once again be set in Divino, the fictional neighborhood that served as the setting for the original plot. Nathalia Dill also commented on theories involving her character Francesca, from "Quem ama cuida," and revealed whether she will be in the new soap opera or not.
