The Paço dos Henriques, located in Alcáçovas, celebrated on September 5th the awarding of the European Heritage Label, with the official placement of the plaque that distinguishes this historic building. The ceremony marked the recognition of the heritage value of Paço dos Henriques at the European level.
The building is recognized for its historical significance as the place associated with the Treaty of Alcáçovas-Toledo, signed in 1479, considered a landmark in European diplomacy. This distinction reinforces the importance of Alentejo heritage in the context of European history.
The ceremony was attended by Henrique Sim-Sim, Vice-President of CCDR Alentejo for Culture, and by Luís Metrogos, Mayor of the Municipality of Viana do Alentejo. Also present was Maria João Carvalho, President of the Board of the Liga dos Incomparáveis, the association responsible for managing the Paço dos Henriques.
