A hundred companies with eligible applications were left without support

A hundred companies with eligible applications were left without support from the incentive program of the Intermunicipal Community of the Leiria Region. The companies met the necessary requirements to receive funding, but were not selected.

The Intermunicipal Community of the Leiria Region argues that there is a need for financial reinforcement to support these companies. The entity understands that the current allocation of the program was not sufficient to meet all applications that met the eligibility conditions.

The incentive program was aimed at companies in the Leiria region, but the demand exceeded the supply of available funds. The companies that were left out will have to wait for new funding lines or for an increase in the amounts allocated to the program.

Health regulator imposes almost 500 thousand euros in fines in the first six months of the year

The Health Regulatory Authority (ERS) applied fines totaling 454 thousand euros during the first half of the year, resulting from 143 administrative offense proceedings against public and private health entities. Of the total proceedings, 44 resulted in approval of voluntary fine payment requests, 74 led to the application of monetary sanctions, three were subject to reprimand, three were dismissed, 17 were attached to other proceedings, and two resulted in the impossibility of notification. The fines were divided into 367 thousand euros in monetary sanctions and 87 thousand euros in voluntary payments. In the second half of 2025, the amount rose to more than 660 thousand euros, covering 184 proceedings.

INEM technicians' strike can be cancelled if agreement is reached with the Ministry of Health

The Union of Pre-Hospital Emergency Technicians (STEPH) announced that the strikes scheduled for September 18 and 28 can be cancelled if the Ministry of Health reaches an agreement on the technicians' demands. The union shows willingness to concede on some points, namely accepting that the reinforcement of means at INEM be done in a phased manner. After sending a letter to the Minister of Health and the president of INEM, the technicians are waiting for a new meeting to be scheduled to negotiate. If the strike continues, it will be the second one called, with the first having occurred in October and November 2024, when inquiries were opened into deaths that allegedly occurred without medical assistance.
