A "dried and wrapped" crocodile head was found inside the luggage of an Italian man at Turin International Airport in Italy. The animal was in poor condition, showing signs of having been subjected to a drying process.
The man was traveling from Miami, United States, with a layover in Istanbul, Turkey, before arriving in Italian territory. The discovery was made during customs controls at Turin airport.
Italian authorities proceeded with the seizure of the crocodile head. No information was released regarding possible charges or sanctions the traveler may face in relation to the transport of the item.
Italian legislation prohibits the importation of protected animal species without the proper authorization, and crocodiles are covered by international conventions for the protection of wildlife.
