Walace Andrade de Oliveira was sentenced by the 17th Criminal Court of the Capital to 39 years and four months in prison. He was accused of involvement in the shooting death of Civil Police officer João Pedro Marquini Santana, who was part of the Special Resources Coordination (Core), and of attempted robbery against his wife, Judge Tula Corrêa de Mello, presiding judge of the 3rd Criminal Court of the Capital. The judge survived the attack.
The crime occurred on March 30, 2025, during the night, on Grota Funda Road in Vargem Grande, in the Southwest Zone of Rio de Janeiro. On that occasion, a group of criminals carried out a fake checkpoint to intercept the couple, who were returning home in separate cars.
The civil police officer was driving in the vehicle ahead and was fatally hit by rifle fire by the criminals. The judge, who was following in another vehicle right behind, was shot in the attack but managed to survive. The trial resulted in the conviction of Walace Andrade de Oliveira for the crimes committed against the couple.
