The Minister of State and Finance, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, was the guest on SIC Notícias' Night Edition. The interview took place on the same day Parliament rejected a motion presented by Chega against the PSD/CDS-PP Government.

The Chega motion of no confidence arose following the controversies involving the Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves. The rejection of the motion represents a vote of confidence in the continuity of the executive.

During the interview, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento revealed that public accounts should reach a "zero balance" by the end of 2026. The minister categorically ruled out any deficit scenario in public finances for the end of that year.
