The Advocacia-Geral da União (AGU) appealed on Tuesday (08) to the Supreme Federal Court (STF) against the decision by Minister André Mendonça that determined the provisional removal of the director-general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues. The request was presented to the president of the Court, Minister Edson Fachin.
In the petition, signed by the advocate-general of the Union, Jorge Messias, and by members of the AGU leadership, the agency states that the decision causes "serious harm to public and administrative order". The entity argues that the selection, appointment, and dismissal of the director-general of the PF are prerogatives of the president of the Republic.
AGU also argues that Rodrigues' abrupt departure may compromise the functioning of the Federal Police, responsible for judicial police activities, in addition to generating risk of disorganization in the institution's structure.
Given the urgency, the agency requested an injunction to immediately suspend Rodrigues' removal and that of other executives affected by the decision.
