Anthony Hall, 50 years old, was arrested after driving erratically in Carlisle, England, United Kingdom. A police officer stopped the Vauxhall Meriva vehicle and found that the man had a strong smell of alcohol on his breath. Hall confessed he had been blind for about two years and could only see lights, using the lights of a truck as a guide to drive for more than 240 kilometers.
The incident happened in the early morning of June 29. The man was driving without a clear direction on the roads when he was intercepted by the police. The erratic driving was what caught the officers' attention before the stop.
On Tuesday (8), Hall appeared at the trial wearing sunglasses and a cane. He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, drunk driving and vehicle theft.
The judge sentenced Hall to 36 weeks in prison, with a suspended sentence for 18 months. With the suspension, he will not need to serve the sentence within the prison system, as long as he does not commit new crimes during the surveillance period.
