At the Setúbal Court, the trial of Manuel Coelho, the only defendant and survivor of the sinking of a vessel off Troia, in April 2024, which caused the death of four people, including an 11-year-old child, is underway. Prosecution witnesses corroborated the Public Ministry's thesis that the sea conditions that day – with waves over three meters high and low tide – made the Restinga area, known for its dangerous sandbanks, particularly unsafe for navigation. The 64-year-old defendant is charged with four counts of negligent homicide for having decided to make the recreational cuttlefish fishing trip, knowing the conditions were not safe. The trial continues on Wednesday.

Blind man drives 240 km drunk using truck lights as guide, sentenced to prison and released, in the United Kingdom

A 50-year-old blind man, Anthony Hall, was convicted in the United Kingdom after driving drunk for more than 240 kilometers in Carlisle, using the rear lights of a truck as a guide. He confessed to police he had lost his vision about two years ago and could only see lights. Hall was sentenced to 36 weeks in prison with a suspended sentence for 18 months, after pleading guilty to dangerous driving, drunk driving and vehicle theft.
