Journalist Isidoro Nicieza received on Tuesday at the Auditorium of Oviedo the Medal of Asturias, a recognition of his long and successful journalistic career. Nicieza dedicated a large part of his professional trajectory to the Prensa Ibérica group, where he held highly responsible positions.
Throughout his career, Nicieza was general director and director of La Nueva España, general director of Faro de Vigo, and, until his retirement in 2024, general director of Content for the entire editorial group. Currently, he remains linked to the group as advisor to Editorial Prensa Asturiana.
During the ceremony to present this numerous distinction, Nicieza left a clear testimony about his professional commitment. "I always tried to ensure that journalism, in addition to being honest and respectful of truth, is useful for Asturias and for the Asturians," the journalist stated.
Nicieza himself considered that receiving this recognition from his homeland represents a validation of his work. "That my homeland is the one granting me this recognition makes me think that, at least in part, I managed to fulfill this commitment," he declared.
