Globo confirmed on Tuesday (08) the production of 'Avenida Brasil 2', a continuation of the soap opera originally aired in 2012. The new plot has premiere scheduled for January 2027 and will occupy the 9pm slot, replacing 'Quem Ama Cuida'. The announcement happened on the network's social media, with a video that recalls the soap opera's soundtrack and the classic "frozen scene" that closed each chapter of the first edition.
The original soap opera, written by João Emanuel Carneiro, was one of the biggest successes of Brazilian TV drama. Currently, 'Avenida Brasil' is being rebroadcast in 'Vale a Pena Ver de Novo'.
Globo has not yet officially disclosed information about the plot, the exact premiere date, or the cast of the continuation. João Emanuel Carneiro is also pointed to as responsible for the new story, but the network did not detail the production team in Tuesday's announcement.
