A 64-year-old paraglider suffered a fall in a cliff area while practicing the activity at Santa Rita beach, in the municipality of Torres Vedras, this Tuesday, September 8. The alert was given at 2:30 PM through emergency number 112, reporting an aerial accident.

Resources from various entities were mobilized to the scene, including the Peniche Lifeguard Station, Peniche Maritime Police, SeaWatch Project, Safe Beach Program, Torres Vedras Volunteer Firefighters, INEM and an aircraft from the Portuguese Air Force.

Upon arrival at the scene, the victim was unconscious and in very serious condition. Due to the rocky area of difficult access, the rescue was carried out by air by the FAP aircraft, which transported the man to the Military Aerodrome of Lisbon, known as Figo Maduro. Subsequently, the victim will be referred to a hospital unit by the firefighters.

The Local Command of the Maritime Police of Peniche took charge of the incident.

Olhão case: GNR ruled out hit-and-run in case of police officers accused of killing immigrant

Two PSP officers from Olhão began standing trial at the Faro Court for aggravated kidnapping and qualified homicide of a Moroccan immigrant. From the outset, the GNR ruled out the hit-and-run hypothesis, having alerted the Judicial Police after experts concluded that the bloodstains at the scene were not compatible with a traffic accident. The police officers deny responsibility, claiming they transported the two men to Pechão peacefully. The Public Prosecutor's Office accuses the officers of having struck the victim several times on the head and face, who died approximately 20 days later at Faro Hospital due to brain contusion. The PJ investigation only began two months after the facts.

Controversy over the exclusion of several female workers from the Eiffel Tower during the visit of a group of Hindus

The Eiffel Tower was the subject of strong controversy after the monument's organization accepted a petition to exclude female workers during the private visit of a Hindu religious group belonging to the BAPS organization, close to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The situation generated indignation, especially considering that the monument is about to pay tribute to 72 female scientists whose names will be engraved on the tower's facade, a gesture that ironically contrasted with the request to exclude the female employees.
