The Olhão GNR dismissed the hit-and-run hypothesis in the death of a Moroccan immigrant in 2024, but the Judicial Police did not carry out any investigation of the case. The Public Prosecutor's Office has now accused two PSP officers of kidnapping and homicide of the Moroccan citizen.
The facts reportedly occurred last year, when the immigrant's lifeless body was found. Authorities initially did not pursue a thorough investigation, with the GNR concluding there was no evidence of a hit-and-run.
The accusation against the two PSP police officers comes after a review of the case by the Public Prosecutor's Office, which considered there to be sufficient evidence to attribute to the officers responsibility for the kidnapping and death of the Moroccan citizen.
The case is now in the hands of the justice system, with the two PSP officers facing serious charges related to the disappearance and death of the immigrant in Olhão.
