A woman was arrested in the act on Saturday night (5th) after trying to steal 15 Barbie dolls from a Ri Happy store at Plaza Shopping, in downtown Niterói. The merchandise was valued at more than R$ 4 thousand and was recovered before the suspect left the establishment.
According to the Military Police, the woman tried to leave the store carrying the products inside a bag lined with aluminum, a resource used to make it difficult for security tag detection by anti-theft systems. Store employees noticed the action and approached the suspect while she was still inside the establishment.
Military police officers were called and took the woman to the 76th Police Station (Downtown), where the incident was reported. Plaza Shopping stated in a note that the security team identified the occurrence and called the competent authorities.
