At least 11 flights, six arrivals and five departures, were cancelled this Tuesday at Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo, due to the strong wind that affected air movement on the island. The count was made at 6 PM.
Among the cancelled flights was flight ENT 7009, operated by the airline Enter Air and coming from Warsaw, which had a scheduled landing at 1:20 PM, but ended up being rerouted to Porto Santo Airport.
The flight EJU 6833, operated by easyJet, also failed to land on the runway at Madeira Airport, having also been affected by the adverse weather conditions.
Airport authorities monitored the situation throughout the day, but the strong wind remained a prohibitive factor for the safe operation of various aircraft at the main airport in the autonomous region of Madeira.
