DGArtes supports 99 projects and excludes 95 due to lack of funding

Observador8 September 2026 at 18:21

The Direção-Geral das Artes (DGArtes) supported 99 projects within a funding program for the arts. However, 95 applications were left without support because the financial amount available for distribution had been exhausted.

Out of a total of 108 applications that did not receive funding, 95 will not have access to funds due to lack of resources. These exclusions due to financial incapacity join another 76 applications that were rejected for "non-compliance," meaning they did not meet the required requirements.

The supported projects are mainly concentrated in the Centro Region and Greater Lisbon, which dominate the landscape of beneficiaries of this arts support program.

The situation reflects the budget limitations faced by DGArtes in responding to the demand for funding in the Portuguese cultural and artistic sector.
