Teatro Viriato has joined a network of accessible theaters, benefiting from funding to reinforce its inclusion initiatives. This integration allows the cultural venue to expand access to culture for historically marginalized audiences.
With the financial support from this network, Teatro Viriato will be able to invest in programming performances with Portuguese Sign Language, making presentations accessible to deaf people or those with hearing impairments.
Additionally, the theater intends to expand the offering of performances with audio description, an essential tool for people with visual impairments, allowing them to follow the performances through audio descriptions of the actions and sets on stage.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote cultural accessibility, ensuring that all citizens, regardless of their abilities, can enjoy a complete and enriching theatrical experience.
