The Brazilian visual artist Gabriel Wickbold celebrates 20 years of career with the exhibition "Immersion and Origin - 20 years ACT I", which will be held at the Museu do Estado de Pernambuco (MEPE), in Recife, from September 9 to October 27, 2026.
The show brings together about 60 images from fundamental series of the artist's career, in addition to a fabric installation and the unprecedented work "Maze ID", which expands his investigation on identity into the universe of artificial intelligence and biometrics.
More than a chronological retrospective, the exhibition highlights the concerns that remain in Wickbold's work over two decades. Body, memory, transformation, technology and the relationships between the individual and society run through works made in different periods, techniques and languages.
The journey brings together series such as "Brasileiros", one of the starting points of his authorial research, "Sexual Colors", in which body, ink and photography meet in images of strong chromatic presence, and "Naïve", among other works that mark his production over the years.
